Meet Birdsong Farm’s newest cow family!
Birdsong Farm’s “Fancy” family is the newest cow family on the farm, and was started with the addition of Gaymar Astro Fancier SUP-EX 90-3E in the autumn of 2012.
Fancier arrived at Birdsong Farm with chronic mastitis and after testing I discovered that it was caused by Staph aureus, so in 2015 I made the decision to dry her off and flush her. The flush was a success, with two heifers to carry on the Fancy family name.
I’m naming the calves in the Fancier family with a Canadian nature theme. There are five cows and heifers in the Fancy family: Gaymar Astro Fancier SUP-EX 90-3E (died in 2018), Birdsong Sweet Summertime, Birdsong Gypsy Moon, Birdsong September Sunrise, Birdsong Amethyst Joy (died in 2022), Birdsong Winter Aspen, Birdsong Okanagan Opal, and the newest addition, a set of twins named Birdsong Mountain Melody and Birdsong Alpine Harmony!
Birdsong Sweet Summertime ET GP 80
Birdsong Sweet Summertime was born on July 21, 2018—at the height of summer. She is Fancier’s first calf to carry the Birdsong prefix.
Summertime is A2/A2 for Beta Casein A2, AA for Beta Casein AB, AB for Kappa Casein, and AB for Beta Lactoglobulin.
To date, Summertime has given birth to three calves, and their names and birthdates are:
- Birdsong OP Ernest (aka Sebastian), October 17, 2020
- Birdsong September Sunrise, September 27, 2021
- Urban, born October 10, 2022
- Birdsong Winter Aspen, December 2, 2023
Summertime was bred with LAITJOIE LIGHTNING on May 7, 2024 for a February 9, 2025 due date.
Birdsong Gypsy Moon ET VG 85
Birdsong Gypsy Moon was born on July 24, 2018—three days before July’s full moon.
Gypsy Moon is A2/A2 for Beta Casein A2, AA for Beta Casein AB, AB for Kappa Casein, and AB for Beta Lactoglobulin.
To date, Gypsy Moon has given birth to six calves, including one set of twins, and their names and birth dates are:

Birdsong September Sunrise was born on September 27, 2021.
Her dam is Birdsong Sweet Summertime -ET and her sire is St-Lo Video.
Sunrise is tested as A2/A2 for Beta Casein A2, AA for Beta Casein AB, BB for Kappa Casein, and AB for Beta Lactoglobulin.
Sunrise’s first calf, Bull calf, was born January 17, 2024, and she was bred with sexed AUDIBEL JORDAN on May 31, 2024 for a March 5, 2025 due date.
Birdsong Amethyst Joy
Amethyst Joy was born on November 26, 2021. Her sire is LENCREST CONTOUR and her dam is BIRDSONG GYPSY MOON -ET.
Amethyst Joy is tested as A2/A2 for Beta Casein A2, AA for Beta Casein AB, AB for Kappa Casein, and AB for Beta Lactoglobulin.
Birdsong Winter Aspen
Aspen was born December 2, 2023. Her dam is Birdsong Sweet Summertime and her sire is Laitjoie Lightning.

Opal was born February 2, 2024. Her dam is Birdsong Gypsy Moon and her sire is Laitjoie Lightning.
Birdsong Mountain Melody
Melody was born February 6, 2025. Her dam is Birdsong Gypsy Moon and her sire is Audibel Jordan. Her twin sister is Birdsong Alpine Harmony.

Harmony was born February 6, 2025. Her dam is Birdsong Gypsy Moon and her sire is Audibel Jordan. Her twin sister is Birdsong Mountain Melody.
